Our program is led by a team of distinguished mentors with expertise in nephrology, internal medicine, and related subspecialties. These mentors are accomplished researchers, clinicians, and educators dedicated to nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders. Among our distinguished mentors are:
Dr. Amir Abdipour obtained his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran, pursuing to continue his medical education at Loma Linda University Health, where he completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship. In 2010, Dr. Abdipour began his academic career as a faculty member at Loma Linda University, educating internal medicine residents and nephrology fellows. He has been the head of the nephrology division since 2016 and currently holds the position of Associate Professor.

As the program's director, he leads postdoctoral researchers in nephrology, providing a platform for clinical faculty to engage in research and positioning the nephrology division to participate in several clinical trials. Additionally, this initiative facilitated collaborative clinical research with various medical institutions. His research focuses on innovative treatments and clinical outcomes in nephrology, particularly glomerular diseases, FSGS post-kidney transplant, polycystic kidney disease, and therapeutic apheresis.
In addition to his leadership in education and research, Dr. Abdipour is the director of the Loma Linda University Health PKD Partner Clinic designated by the PKD Foundation.
Outside of his professional career, Dr. Abdipour is passionate about outdoor activities, including running, hiking, skiing, and biking.
Notable among his accomplishments are completing the Everest Base Camp trek, summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, and participating in marathons and half marathons as part of his athletic pursuits.
