Eligibility

  • Recent MD graduates or candidates nearing the completion of their medical degree (doctoral level).
  • Previous experience in medical research, with a demonstrated interest in advancing nephrology, internal medicine, or related subspecialties.
  • Strong interest in clinical research and a commitment to contributing to scientific advancements.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) for effective participation in research and clinical discussions.

The program spans 2 years, with the first year being unfunded and the second year funded by the Department of Medicine, contingent upon evaluation and assessment by the selection committee.

Responsibilities

  • Writing IRB Proposals: Crafting and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposals to ensure the ethical conduct of research.
  • Literature Search: Conducting comprehensive reviews of existing literature to inform and support research projects.
  • Data Extraction and Analysis: Collecting and analyzing data to derive meaningful insights and conclusions. 
  • Writing Manuscripts: Preparing manuscripts for submission to academic journals.
  • Publication Assistance: Identifying and selecting appropriate journals for publication and navigating the submission process.
  • Conference Attendance: Participating in local and national conferences to present research findings and network with other professionals in the field.
  • Active engagement in Rare Kidney Disease conferences and webinars hosted by the Division of Nephrology.
